Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 32-year-old woman, Karungi Zainabu, has been arrested in Kenya for allegedly orchestrating her own abduction in an attempt to extort money from her family. According to Police Spokesperson Enanga Fred, Zainabu falsely claimed that she and another individual had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom for their release. The incident took place on Thursday, February 8, when Zainabu contacted her mother and fabricated a story about an armed abduction.

Law enforcement agencies, including the police, UPDF, CMI, UWA, and ISO, collaborated to track down Zainabu and apprehend her. The joint task force utilized advanced surveillance techniques to locate her in her hideout. Zainabu was found hiding in a room at Margherita Street in Kasese Municipality.

Enanga Fred stated that Zainabu will be charged with providing false information to the police and self-kidnapping. The police spokesperson also criticized Zainabu for using the image of the National Park to suggest where she was allegedly abducted.

This incident is not the first of its kind in Kenya. Recently, a man in Kakamega also faked his own kidnapping to extort money from his family. Identified as Evans Akaya Pesa, the man disappeared from home and later informed his family that he had been kidnapped. However, he later resurfaced and apologized to his family, admitting that he had faked the abduction to try and obtain money.

These incidents highlight the need for vigilance and caution when dealing with claims of abduction or extortion. Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to track down and apprehend individuals who engage in such fraudulent activities.
