The authorities have recently made a significant breakthrough in an ongoing investigation regarding a fatal shooting that took place in Laurel, Delaware. On the evening of September 10, 2023, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Laurel Police Department received distressing reports of a shooting incident within the town limits, specifically near West Sixth Street.
Swiftly responding to the distress call, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals who had been victims of the shooting. Tragically, Taylor German, a 26-year-old resident of Laurel, was found inside a vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim, a 41-year-old man from Millsboro, sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, he has since been released after receiving medical treatment.
After thorough investigations, it was revealed that the victims had been targeted while traveling in a vehicle near the entrance of the Little Creek Apartments. The assailant or assailants, who have yet to be identified, opened fire on the vehicle, resulting in the victims’ injuries. Despite their wounds, the victims managed to reach West Sixth Street, where they were met by the police, who promptly administered medical assistance.
Due to the severity of the incident, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Their dedicated efforts eventually led to significant developments in the case. On Wednesday, State Police confirmed the identification of Azzure Horsey, a 19-year-old resident of Laurel, Delaware, as a suspect in the shooting. Subsequently, on February 14, 2024, Horsey was arrested without incident following an indictment by a Sussex County Grand Jury on February 13, 2024.
Horsey now faces a multitude of charges, including Murder First Degree, two counts of Attempted Murder, five counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Conspiracy First Degree, Assault Second Degree, and Reckless Endangering First Degree. Following his arrest, Horsey was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, where he is being held on a substantial cash bond of $3,260,000.
