A 37-year-old man from Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, has been arrested and charged with possessing, receiving, and distributing child pornography. Francisco Villafane is accused of soliciting sexually explicit videos from a girl who was between the ages of 13 and 16, according to federal authorities.
The arrest was made on Monday, and Villafane was detained after a detention hearing on Tuesday, as stated by law enforcement officials.
Authorities allege that Villafane engaged in over 7,000 messages with the teen, including the exchange of sexually explicit videos. The communication took place in 2020 when the girl was 13 years old and again in 2023 when she turned 16.
The investigation began in September 2020 when law enforcement received information about the online chats between the adult, later identified as Villafane, and the minor. Communication between the two ceased between late 2020 and late 2023, according to authorities.
In November 2023, authorities discovered that the online communication had resumed, and Villafane allegedly solicited sexually explicit videos from the minor when she was 16 years old.
Villafane’s federal public defender, who represents him, did not respond immediately to requests for comment on the charges.
