CHICAGO (CBS) – A 25-year-old man, Darnell Ingram, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to a carjacking incident in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood last month.

Ingram was apprehended by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on Tuesday in the 6600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue. He is facing three felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, burglary, and aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon without an FCCA-FOID card.

According to authorities, on January 28th, around 3:30 a.m., Ingram and his accomplices allegedly forced a 45-year-old man out of his vehicle in the 400 block of East 71st Street. During the incident, the victim was struck by a passing car, resulting in serious injuries. The carjackers fled the scene with the victim’s car.

Law enforcement was able to identify Ingram as one of the offenders, leading to his arrest. A weapon was also recovered during the operation. However, the other suspects involved in the carjacking are still at large.

Ingram is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Wednesday.
