A tragic incident unfolded in Georgia during the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day, resulting in the death of a 1-year-old child. The father of the child is now facing murder charges in connection with the heartbreaking incident.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, prompting deputies to initiate an investigation within the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road. This distressing event followed another disturbance call at approximately 12:05 a.m. in the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered a woman named Janet Dorn, who was found injured and clearly a victim of a violent altercation. Shandrea Spencer, Dorn’s daughter, was also present at the scene and had called to report the incident.
Dorn informed Bibb County officials that the man who had assaulted her had also taken her 1-year-old daughter. The man in question was identified as 19-year-old Akiem Jamal Jordan, who is not only the father of the child but also the prime suspect in this tragic case.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office swiftly issued a “Be On The Lookout” (BOLO) alert for Jordan and a white vehicle believed to be in his possession. The vehicle was reported to have another individual inside, identified as 20-year-old Rahem Devar Ferrell, both residents of Macon.
At 3:03 a.m., deputies successfully located Jordan and Ferrell. To their horror, they discovered the 1-year-old child in an unresponsive state, being held by Jordan himself. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley arrived at the scene and pronounced the child deceased. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Following further investigation, both Jordan and Ferrell were apprehended and taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Ferrell now faces charges of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, while Jordan is charged with murder in relation to the death of his own one-year-old daughter. Additionally, Jordan faces three counts of aggravated assault. Both individuals are currently being held without bond.
Janet Dorn, the injured mother, was transported to a medical facility for treatment and is currently in stable condition. Authorities are actively working to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
