A 40-year-old lawyer was carrying a concealed gun inside the MRI scan room while accompanying his mother to an appointment.

A lawyer from Brazil tragically lost his life in a fatal accident that occurred in a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) room. The incident took place on January 16 at the Laboratorio Cura hospital, where the lawyer had brought his loaded licensed gun into the MRI scanning room.

The deceased has been identified as Leandro Mathias de Novaes, a 40-year-old lawyer who had concealed a gun while accompanying his mother for a medical appointment. According to reports, the magnetic forces generated by the MRI machine pulled the licensed weapon from its position, causing a tragic accident. The powerful magnetic field was strong enough to dislodge the gun from his waistband, resulting in severe injuries.

Following this unfortunate incident, the Laboratorio Cura hospital issued an official statement. As reported by the Miami Herald, the statement emphasized that both the patient and her companion were given proper instructions on the procedures for entering the examination room and were warned about the need to remove any metallic objects.

The hospital administration’s official statement concluded by stating that the companion had not disclosed the presence of the firearm and had entered the examination room with it against the hospital’s instructions.

Following the accident, lawyer Novaes was immediately transferred to Sao Luiz Morumbi Hospital, where he received medical treatment for several weeks. However, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he tragically passed away on February 6.

In response to Novaes’ death, the spokesperson for the Order of Attorneys of Brazil in Cotia, representing the Sao Paulo law community, expressed deep regret. The spokesperson stated, “It is with great sadness that OAB Cotia informs all fellow lawyers about the unexpected loss of our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Leandro Mathias de Novaes.” The statement further conveyed sympathy to Novaes’ family in this difficult time, as reported by the New York Post.

Reportedly, the deceased lawyer had frequently shared pro-gun content on his TikTok account, where he had amassed over 8,000 followers, according to the New York Post.

This unfortunate incident is not the first time someone has lost their life in an MRI accident. In 2018, a 32-year-old Indian man tragically died in an MRI chamber while holding a metal oxygen tank.

A Brazilian lawyer, Leandro Mathias de Novaes, tragically lost his life in a fatal accident that occurred in a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) room. The incident took place on January 16 at the Laboratorio Cura hospital, where Novaes had accompanied his mother for a medical appointment. Novaes, who was carrying a concealed gun, brought the loaded weapon into the MRI scanning room, leading to a devastating accident.

The accident occurred when the powerful magnetic forces generated by the MRI machine pulled the licensed gun from Novaes’ waistband. The magnetic field was so strong that it dislodged the weapon, causing severe injuries to Novaes. Despite receiving medical support for several weeks at the Sao Luiz Morumbi Hospital, Novaes succumbed to his injuries and passed away on February 6.

The Laboratorio Cura hospital issued an official statement following the incident, stating that both Novaes and his mother were properly instructed regarding the procedures for entering the examination room and were warned about the need to remove any metallic objects. However, Novaes failed to disclose the presence of the firearm and entered the room against the hospital’s instructions.

The tragic death of Novaes has deeply saddened the Sao Paulo law community. The Order of Attorneys of Brazil in Cotia expressed their condolences and sympathy to Novaes’ family during this difficult time. Novaes was known for sharing pro-gun content on his TikTok account, where he had gained a significant following.

This unfortunate incident highlights the dangers associated with bringing metallic objects into MRI rooms. It serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and guidelines provided by medical facilities to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.

It is crucial for individuals to understand and follow the instructions provided by healthcare professionals to ensure their safety and the safety of others in medical environments. MRI machines generate powerful magnetic fields that can interact with metallic objects, leading to potentially life-threatening situations.

This incident is not the first of its kind. In 2018, a 32-year-old Indian man tragically lost his life in an MRI chamber while holding a metal oxygen tank. These incidents serve as a grim reminder of the potential risks involved and the need for strict adherence to safety measures in MRI facilities.

As we mourn the loss of Leandro Mathias de Novaes, it is essential to raise awareness about the potential hazards associated with MRI machines and reinforce the importance of following safety protocols in healthcare settings.
