KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A tragic incident in Kansas City has led to the arrest of a man on a felony gun charge after two women lost their lives in a shooting last week. Namphonh Suady has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court documents filed by Jackson County prosecutors.

The incident took place on February 9th when Independence police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1300 block of North Lynn Street at around 3:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one woman deceased on the driveway and another woman in the basement of the house, as documented in the court filing.

The victims have been identified as 47-year-old Jessika Koehler and 44-year-old Janessa Russell, both of whom tragically lost their lives in the incident.

According to evidence captured on a Ring doorbell camera, Suady arrived at the house in a vehicle with a pistol in hand. The footage shows him running into the driveway and firing shots towards the house.

However, the video also revealed that gunshots were fired from inside the house, suggesting a potential exchange of gunfire during the incident.

As authorities followed a blood trail, they discovered Suady with a gunshot wound to his forearm. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

Despite being in custody, Suady has refused to cooperate with the police and has not provided any statements regarding the incident.

Records indicate that Suady has a prior criminal history in Missouri, including convictions for assault, armed criminal action, and other offenses.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no murder charges have been filed in connection with the case, leaving the investigation ongoing.
