A 30-year-old man, who is an accused in a MCOCA case registered at Nerul police station, was fatally assaulted on his head with an iron rod by a notorious criminal over previous enmity. The victim’s wife was also assaulted and has been hospitalized due to her injuries. The incident took place in the Nerul gaothan area on Tuesday around 6.30 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Chirag Loke, according to the police. The accused, George Mendonca, a history-sheeter, attacked Loke with an iron rod, leading to his death. The motive behind the assault was a previous dispute between the two.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently searching for the accused, who fled the scene after the attack. They have registered a case of murder against Mendonca and are working to apprehend him as soon as possible.
