The assailant responsible for the shooting at celebrity pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church has been identified as 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno, according to an affidavit seeking a search warrant for a home in Conroe, Texas. The attack took place about 40 miles north of Houston.
The Montgomery County district attorney’s office released the warrant on Monday, revealing the identity of the assailant.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear. The incident occurred during busy services on Sunday, causing panic among churchgoers who rushed for safety.
The search warrant affidavit has requested FBI assistance in retrieving any data from electronic devices found in the Conroe home linked to the assailant.
Authorities have confirmed that a five-year-old boy who entered the church with the attacker, along with a man in his 50s, sustained injuries in the shooting. The boy is currently in critical condition.
