LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The victim of a tragic pedestrian accident in north Lincoln on Friday has been identified by the police as 64-year-old Steven Keith.
According to the crash report, the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. when a driver was traveling north on North 27th Street near Old Dairy Road. The driver noticed Keith, who was walking on the road, and immediately flashed his lights to warn him about the oncoming traffic.
Keith, following the driver’s warning, carefully made his way towards the median. However, seconds later, the driver heard a loud thud against his vehicle and turned around, only to find Keith lying motionless on the ground. An eyewitness at the scene confirmed that they had witnessed the vehicle hitting Keith.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and administered life-saving measures on Keith. He was then rushed to a hospital in Lincoln, but unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
The driver involved in the collision cooperated fully with the authorities. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the driver was not at fault, and as a result, no citations were issued.
