NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 19-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody after allegedly firing shots towards individuals in the parking lot of a Walgreens store in Nashville. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 11, at the Walgreens located in the 200 block of West Maplewood Lane.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reported that the store’s manager, who was on her break and standing outside in the parking lot, witnessed the suspect, identified as Zeric Johnson, chasing two individuals with a gun. The manager stated that Johnson fired three to four shots towards the duo. In fear for their safety, the manager and the victims ran inside the store while Johnson fled the scene.
Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the incident and were able to apprehend Johnson near the Walgreens parking lot. Johnson admitted to firing several rounds, claiming that he saw people near his recently taken car and noticed them reaching into their pockets.
Further investigation revealed that a separate 911 call had been made near the Walgreens at the time of the incident. The caller reported that a bullet had hit their window, which was located behind the store.
During the arrest, officers discovered a firearm in Johnson’s possession, which was found to be stolen from Brentwood. The firearm was not fully loaded at the time.
Johnson was taken into custody and booked into the Metro Jail at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12. He now faces several charges, including reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, theft of a firearm, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism.
