In a sad turn of events, Bob Moore, the co-founder of international whole-grain foods manufacturer Bob’s Red Mill, has passed away at the age of 94. The Milwaukie, Oregon-based company announced his death, which occurred at his home on Saturday, just days before his 95th birthday. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
A Legacy in Whole-Grain Foods
Bob’s Red Mill, founded in 1978, started as a local business serving the Portland area. Over the years, it grew into a global corporation, offering more than 200 products, including cereals, flours, and beans, in over 70 countries worldwide. From Canada to China to Australia, Bob’s Red Mill became a household name for those seeking healthy and nutritious whole-grain foods.
A Commitment to Employees
In 2010, Bob Moore and his wife Charlee, who sadly passed away in 2018, established an employee stock ownership plan. This plan allowed them to transfer the ownership of the company to its dedicated employees. Today, Bob’s Red Mill is proudly 100% owned by its more than 700 employees. Even until his passing, Bob remained an active member of the company’s board.

Bob and Charlee Moore believed in giving back to their community and supporting education and research. Over the past decade, they made significant financial contributions to Oregon universities.
