Two teenagers have been charged with assault by the Worcester police in connection with multiple incidents that occurred on Friday. Pedestrians were targeted and shot with paintballs from inside a moving car, authorities reported.

The older suspect, 19-year-old David Asemani, is a Worcester resident, while the other, a 16-year-old minor, remains unidentified by the police. The Worcester Police made an announcement on their Facebook page on Saturday, disclosing the names of the accused individuals. Both suspects are now facing multiple charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to the police report, several pedestrians contacted the authorities on February 9, reporting incidents where they were shot with paintballs by an individual inside a gray Honda Civic. Officers who responded to the calls observed paint stains on the victims and issued an alert to fellow officers, urging them to be vigilant for the suspect vehicle.

Shortly after midnight, a patrol officer noticed a speeding vehicle taking a right turn. Suspecting it to be the same car described in the earlier incidents, the officer began following it. The license plate of the vehicle matched the suspect car’s details, confirming their suspicions.

In response, the officer activated the emergency lights and pulled over the suspicious vehicle. However, as the officer approached, one of the occupants fled on foot towards Pleasant Street. The fleeing individual, identified as the 16-year-old minor, was swiftly apprehended by the pursuing officer.

Subsequently, the driver of the vehicle, David Asemani, was also arrested. The police discovered that Asemani’s license was suspended and recovered a paintball gun from the car.

At present, it remains uncertain whether the two suspects will face additional charges in connection with the paintball shooting spree in Worcester.
