In a disturbing incident in Poway on Saturday afternoon, an altercation between roommates escalated into violence, leaving one individual injured. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call around 1:30 p.m. reporting that a roommate had attacked the caller with a box cutter, resulting in abrasions.
The incident took place at a residence in the 13000 block of York Avenue, where deputies from the Poway Sheriff’s Station quickly responded. Upon arrival, authorities attempted to de-escalate the situation and persuade the suspect to surrender peacefully. However, the man, later identified as 32-year-old Travis Bradley Miller, refused to comply.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved, an aerial support helicopter was brought in to provide surveillance from above. Additionally, the sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team, the Special Enforcement Detail, and deputy K-9 handlers were all deployed to the scene.
After nearly six hours of negotiation, Miller was finally taken into custody around 8 p.m. without incident. He was subsequently booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and violating the conditions of his probation.
This harrowing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and the crucial role law enforcement plays in maintaining public safety.
