Seven individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash between a coaster and a trailer on Mauripur Road in Karachi, as reported by Dawn. The Mauripur police station confirmed that among the deceased were four children and two women. The victims included 40-year-old Sughra, 45-year-old Shazia, 10-year-old Kinza Ahmed, 14-year-old Qadeer Abdul Jabbar, six-year-old Sakeena Manzoor, four-year-old Zeenat Hayat, and one unidentified 40-year-old individual.

Additionally, six others sustained injuries in the accident, including two women and a young boy. The injured individuals were identified as 35-year-old Azhar, 35-year-old Bushra, 35-year-old Shabbir, 25-year-old Sadiq, 20-year-old Zainab, and 10-year-old Mudasir. They were promptly transported to Civil Hospital Karachi for urgent medical treatment.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Mauripur Station House Officer (SHO) Chaudhry Tufail revealed that the victims were a group of relatives en route to a beach picnic when the collision occurred. The fatal crash unfolded as the trailer executed a U-turn, leading to a collision with the speeding coaster behind it, ultimately causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver of the trailer fled the scene, while the injured coaster driver is currently receiving medical attention. Authorities have initiated an investigation to uncover further details surrounding the incident.

Government Response and Call for Action

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep condolences for the victims and instructed medical facilities to provide the best possible care for the injured individuals. CM Shah directed Sindh Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon to furnish a comprehensive report on the accident, urging for stringent measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. Stressing the importance of road safety, CM Shah highlighted the need to suspend the driving licences of individuals who recklessly speed on busy roads, emphasising the devastating consequences such actions can have on families and innocent lives.
