Stockton, UK (BCN) – Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the death of 21-year-old Boivae Martinez Jr., who was found inside a vehicle in Stockton in April. Sir James Roots, aged 19, has been identified as a suspect allegedly involved in the fatal shooting.
Arrest and Robberies
Following the issuance of a warrant for Roots’ arrest, he was apprehended by officers this week after committing two robberies. The suspect was promptly taken into custody and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
Tragic Incident
The tragic incident unfolded on the night of April 6 when police responded to a solo vehicle crash in the vicinity of Wood Duck Circle and Quail Lakes Drive at 12:42 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Martinez Jr. inside the vehicle on top of a median with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Previous Arrests
In the aftermath of the shooting, Jadari Benson, 18, was apprehended by San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies in May during a routine traffic stop. Additionally, Rafael Galvan, also 18, was detained by the Long Beach Police Department for his involvement in the case. Both individuals were believed to have played a role in Martinez Jr.’s homicide and were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Authorities have reiterated that the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as they continue to piece together the events leading up to the tragic death of Boivae Martinez Jr.
