Sahai Mata Flatts : “Tampa DUI Crash: High-Speed Chase Ends”

TAMPA, United Kingdom — A woman was arrested early Saturday morning after leading troopers on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash. The incident occurred on I-275 when a trooper attempted to pull over a Mercedes sedan for driving without headlights.

According to the arrest report, the driver, identified as Sahai Mata Flatts, 25, accelerated and reached speeds of up to 130 mph in a 60 mph zone. Despite the trooper’s attempt to initiate a traffic stop, Flatts continued to evade authorities.

As the chase continued, Flatts attempted to exit at State Road 589 but lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a tree and hitting a fence. Florida Highway Patrol officials noted that the car was severely damaged in the crash.

Upon apprehension, troopers reported that Flatts displayed signs of intoxication, including “red glossy eyes” and the smell of alcohol. She was subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for evaluation before being placed under arrest around 2:30 a.m.

It was revealed that Flatts’ license had been suspended in May for failing to submit to a DUI test. Additionally, there were other active suspensions on her record at the time of the incident.
