The tragic incident occurred when the quad bike Bertolino was a passenger on crashed off a cliff into the sea at Wied il-Mielaħ in Għarb. The driver, a 47-year-old Italian man, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal plunge. Despite the driver managing to jump to safety, Bertolino fell into the sea and succumbed to her injuries.
