A tragic incident unfolded in Utica, New York, late Friday night when a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot by a police officer after he ran from the authorities and pointed a replica handgun at them. The shocking video footage of the incident was released on Saturday, sparking outrage and calls for justice.

The incident occurred when officers in Utica stopped two youths as part of a police investigation. One of the youths, identified as Nyah Mway, attempted to flee and brandished what appeared to be a real handgun at the pursuing officers. During a physical altercation with the teen, one of the officers discharged a single shot that tragically struck the boy in the chest. Despite receiving immediate first aid from the officers and being rushed to Wynn Hospital, the teen succumbed to his injuries.

The Utica Police Department confirmed that the replica gun carried by the teen was indistinguishable from a real firearm, complete with GLOCK markings, detachable magazine, and serial numbers. The authenticity of the replica added to the intensity of the situation.
