Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Texas has been taken into custody by authorities after allegedly attacking another individual with a machete-style knife during a dispute on the road. Michael Martin Ochwat, aged 66, was apprehended on Wednesday and now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as reported by the New Braunfels Police Department on their official Facebook page.
The incident took place on Monday around midday near the junction of North Market Avenue and East San Antonio Street in New Braunfels. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a 55-year-old male victim who had sustained a slash wound to his upper body. Emergency medical services were promptly summoned, and the victim was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Fortunately, the victim’s condition has since stabilized, and he has been discharged from medical care.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement between the victim and another driver while both parties were in their respective vehicles. Subsequently, both individuals exited their cars, leading to Ochwat allegedly brandishing a machete-type knife at the victim.
Following the incident, Ochwat was served with an arrest warrant on Wednesday afternoon and was taken into custody without any further issues. He was later processed at the Comal County Jail and has since been released on bail set at $50,000.
