Evansville, Ind. (WFIE) – A man was taken into custody in Evansville on Saturday morning after being arrested on charges of drunk driving, according to officials from the Evansville Police Department.
Reports indicate that police officers were conducting patrols in the vicinity of North Fulton Avenue and Columbia Street when they observed a vehicle swerving through an intersection.
Law enforcement officers proceeded to initiate a traffic stop and approached the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Marcus Calhoun.
Upon making contact with Calhoun, police officers reportedly detected the odour of alcohol emanating from both the interior of the vehicle and Calhoun’s breath.
Following Calhoun’s failure to pass field sobriety tests, a breath test revealed that his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was recorded at .230 without a full breath.
Subsequently, Calhoun was apprehended and transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail for processing.
He is currently facing charges related to two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence, driving left of centre, and refusal to comply with a chemical test.
