Kaieteur News – The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic death of a three-month-old infant at a Day Care and Play School located in Kaneville, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The deceased baby has been identified as Kyre Anthony Nelson, a resident of First Street, Kaneville, EBD. According to reports, Nelson was discovered unresponsive at approximately 12:00hrs, with his head resting on a pillow inside a cradle by one of the two supervising teachers at the day care.
One of the teachers, who was preparing the other children for departure, noticed Nelson’s lifeless state and immediately raised the alarm. The second teacher then examined the infant and observed bleeding from his nostrils. Efforts were made to revive the baby, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. The child’s mother was promptly contacted, and he was swiftly taken to Diamond Diagnostic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities have been notified, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The mother of the deceased infant informed the police that she had dropped off her child at the day care at 08:00hrs before heading to work. The teacher in charge acknowledged receiving the baby in good health and even fed him porridge at around 09:00hrs. Subsequently, at 11:00hrs, the teacher placed Nelson to rest in the cradle while attending to another child. Approximately an hour later, the distressing discovery of the lifeless baby was made.
It has been disclosed by the authorities that the day care establishment is owned by a 56-year-old woman, who is currently on vacation in the United States of America (USA).
The investigation into this heartbreaking incident remains ongoing as the community mourns the loss of young Kyre Anthony Nelson.
