DEER PARK, NY — A tragic incident unfolded in Deer Park on Friday, resulting in the loss of four lives, including that of an off-duty New York City police officer.

Emilia Rennhack, a 30-year-old NYPD officer, was among those who tragically lost their lives in the nail salon crash. The NYPD News Twitter account posted a message of mourning, stating, “The NYPD mourns the loss of @NYPD102Pct Police Officer Emilia Rennhack. She was tragically killed yesterday while off-duty on Long Island. Please keep her family, friends, and co-workers in your thoughts. Rest in peace.” The NYC PBA also confirmed Rennhack’s presence at the salon.

The funeral arrangements for Officer Rennhack have been finalised by the NYC PBA. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, with a funeral service scheduled for Saturday, July 6.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Rennhack was at the salon getting her nails done for a wedding. Heartbroken family and friends took to social media to express their grief over the loss of Officer Rennhack.

The Simonsen Foundation, established in memory of NYPD Detective Brian “Smiles” Simonsen, also mourned the loss of Officer Rennhack. The foundation expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of Rennhack and extended their support to her husband, Detective Carl Rennhack.

On Saturday, the police identified the individuals who lost their lives and sustained injuries in the nail salon crash. The driver responsible for the incident has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The Deer Park Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash, describing it as chaotic. The first responders worked diligently to manage the mass casualty incident and provide aid to the injured.

Mark Stone, a public information officer with the Deer Park Fire Department, commended the professionalism and dedication of the responders in handling the tragic situation. He highlighted the importance of the critical incident stress management team in supporting the first responders post-incident.

Residents across Long Island expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, with many praising the bravery of the first responders who worked tirelessly to save lives.

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly and New York State Senator Dean Murray offered their thoughts and prayers to those affected by the accident, acknowledging the heroic efforts of the first responders.
