Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Two individuals from Izard County, a 66-year-old man named Daniel Herrick and a 44-year-old woman named Wendy Fowler-Jenkins, have been apprehended following reports of unlawful entry and theft at a residence in Horseshoe Bend.

On June 24, deputies from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a homeowner who reported that intruders were in his residence. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers witnessed Herrick and Fowler-Jenkins exiting the property.

During questioning, the suspects claimed that they were hired by the city of Horseshoe Bend to clean the house. Fowler-Jenkins alleged that a city employee had provided her with a key to the residence. However, the key, which had a knife attached to it, was identified by the homeowner as his missing key.

Further investigation revealed a black bag on the porch, which neither the victim nor the suspects claimed ownership of. Inside the bag, authorities discovered a toolset belonging to the homeowner, along with various household items, clothing, markers, and coloring books that did not belong to him. Both Herrick and Fowler-Jenkins were subsequently taken into custody.

According to a statement provided by the victim, he stated, “Someone drove by and called me saying people were walking around my yard and in my house. When I arrived, they found my hidden keys and gained entry into my home. I have identified several missing items, including hand saws, screws, drill bits, plumbing tools, hammers, screwdrivers, a pry bar, and a sledgehammer, among other things. Some of my belongings were recovered from a bag left on my porch, amounting to an estimated value of $700-1000.”

Fowler-Jenkins and Herrick have been booked at the Izard County Detention Center, facing felony charges of breaking or entering, as well as misdemeanor charges of theft of property. While Herrick was released on a $10,000 bond, Fowler-Jenkins remains in custody on the same bond amount.
