KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A devastating head-on collision in Kosciusko County on Saturday evening has resulted in one fatality and nine individuals sustaining injuries.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release detailing the events of the tragic incident that occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on County Road 150 West, south of County Road 400 North.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found two vehicles involved in the collision – a Tesla and a black Chevrolet SUV.

Initial investigations revealed that the Tesla, driven by 31-year-old Anish Daita from Warsaw, was travelling northbound on CR 150 West and veered left of the center line, resulting in a head-on collision with the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 44-year-old Joseph L. Criswell from Milford, Ind., tragically lost his life at the scene as confirmed by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. The SUV carried six juvenile passengers who sustained various injuries, with three of them being transported to a Fort Wayne hospital – two via air ambulance and one by EMS.

Anish Daita suffered internal injuries and was rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment. Two other adult passengers in the Tesla sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
