Thane, Jun 29 (PTI) – Tragedy struck in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, as a 35-year-old man lost his life when a wall and roof of a room in a chawl collapsed during heavy rains. The victim, identified as Vimal Vishesar Sah, was a resident of Narpoli in Bhiwandi and originally from Sitamarhi, Bihar.
The unfortunate incident took place on Friday around noon when the wall and roof of the room caved in on Vimal, burying him under the debris. Despite efforts to rescue him and rush him to a hospital, Vimal succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Narpoli police swiftly responded to the scene, sending the body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. A case of accidental death was registered as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
The collapse serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by dilapidated structures during the monsoon season. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of structural weakness to prevent similar incidents in the future.
