Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman from Mutare, Zimbabwe, identified as Tambudzai Muwadi, has found herself in legal trouble after being charged with bigamy. The Mutare Magistrates Court fined Muwadi US$120 for marrying two men while her first marriage was still legally binding.

The court records revealed that Muwadi first tied the knot with Jonathan Kisi on January 8, 2004, under the Marriage Act Chapter 05:11. Although the couple later separated, they did not officially dissolve their marriage. Despite this, Muwadi went on to marry Julius Tawanda Mukajami on September 3, 2005, also under the same Marriage Act, and obtained another marriage certificate.

Years later, it was discovered that Muwadi’s first marriage was still valid when she entered into her second marriage. This led to her being taken to court for bigamy. The Mutare Magistrates Court found her guilty and imposed a fine of US$120. If she fails to pay the fine, she could face 30 days imprisonment. Additionally, the court ordered that her second marriage certificate be forwarded to the Registrar General’s office for cancellation.
