Accident – Death – Obituary News : Montgomery County Police officials have apprehended and formally charged two individuals, 19-year-old Ruben Ramirez from Laurel and 20-year-old Darrell Alvin Brown from Germantown, in connection with an armed carjacking and robbery incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
As per a press release issued by the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), officers from the 2nd District swiftly responded to a distress call reporting an armed carjacking on the 1900 block of East-West Highway around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. The MCPD officers were quick to arrive at the scene and commence their investigation.
The subsequent investigation conducted by the county’s Major Crimes Division revealed that a male victim had been walking towards his apartment after parking his car when he was accosted by three unidentified men. One of the perpetrators brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys, which he promptly surrendered. The other two assailants then demanded the victim’s mobile phone, which he handed over without hesitation. Following these demands, the victim managed to escape to his apartment and alert the authorities.
The suspects, described as one Hispanic male and two Black males, then proceeded to abscond with the victim’s 2021 Toyota Camry from the scene, as stated by the MCPD.
On the following day, the victim’s stolen vehicle was recovered, and two of the suspects, identified as Ramirez and Brown, were apprehended without any resistance. During the arrest, law enforcement officials discovered a Glock handgun in close proximity to the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Ramirez and Brown were subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and have been formally charged with various offenses, including armed robbery, armed carjacking, assault, theft, and multiple firearm-related charges.
At present, both suspects are being detained without the option of posting bond, while detectives from the MCPD continue their efforts to locate and apprehend the third perpetrator involved in the crime.
