The accused, identified as Rohit Bhosale, hails from Kandivali (East) and stands accused of committing the heinous acts. According to the police report, the young girl was returning home from her tuition classes on a sunny Friday afternoon when the perpetrator, driving his auto-rickshaw, closely followed her. The situation escalated when he stopped his vehicle in front of the Evershine Crown building in Kandivali East, blocking the girl’s path. It was at this moment that he proceeded to molest her, leaving her traumatized.
Upon reaching home, the distressed girl confided in her parents, who wasted no time in taking her to the local police station to lodge a formal complaint. Shockingly, as the investigation unfolded, four more young women, aged 17, 27, 26, and 19 respectively, came forward with similar allegations against the same culprit. The pattern emerged that the accused would target his victims between the hours of 2pm and 7pm, often operating under the influence of alcohol.
The police wasted no time in registering a case against Bhosale under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, ensuring that justice would be served. Following an intense manhunt, the perpetrator was apprehended late at night, thanks to diligent efforts in scanning CCTV footage from the areas where the incidents occurred.
