A dramatic incident unfolded in Brevard County, Florida, when a 66-year-old man took matters into his own hands to defend his vehicle against a carjacking attempt on Thursday. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Blake Robinson, was found lying on the ground with blood around his mouth after the altercation.
Details of the Incident
Deputies at the scene spoke with the victim, Robert Polk, who recounted how he bravely confronted Robinson after catching him trying to open the door handles of his truck. Polk’s face showed signs of the struggle, with redness and swelling, and blood covering one of his ears.
The Confrontation
The confrontation began when Polk heard a suspicious noise outside his home and went to investigate, only to find Robinson attempting to gain access to his vehicle. Unable to locate his phone to call for help, Polk decided to confront the suspect, leading to a physical altercation.
Robinson reportedly attacked Polk, punching him, throwing him to the ground, and kicking him in the head. In self-defense, Polk managed to strike back and escape from Robinson’s grasp.
Legal Consequences
Following the incident, Robinson was arrested on charges of felony battery and attempted burglary of a conveyance. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail without bond as the investigation continues.
