IRVING, Texas — Authorities have apprehended a man suspected of the brutal killings of two employees at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in North Texas, according to police reports.

Following an exhaustive investigation, law enforcement officers successfully located and took into custody Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, aged 37, at around 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2024. He is presently being held in the Irving City Jail awaiting a formal arraignment, as stated in a press release issued by the Irving Police Department.

The accused, who hails from El Salvador, has been formally charged with capital murder and is also under an immigration detainer imposed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The victims, identified as 31-year-old Brayan Godoy and 49-year-old Patricia Portillo, were tragically slain in the incident that took place at the Chick-fil-A establishment.
