LATEST DEVELOPMENTS: Suspect in Irving Chick-fil-A double homicide in custody
The suspect wanted for the tragic murders of two individuals inside a Chick-fil-A establishment in Irving on Wednesday has been apprehended. Oved Argueta, the alleged perpetrator, was taken into custody and formally charged early Thursday morning.
IRVING, Texas – The families of the two victims fatally shot within a Chick-fil-A in Irving continue to grapple with the shock and sorrow of their loss.
As the community mourns, fresh bouquets now encircle photographs of the two dedicated Chick-fil-A employees who tragically lost their lives while on duty on Wednesday.

The victims have been identified as 31-year-old Brayan Godoy, a devoted father of four from Guatemala, and 49-year-old Patricia Portillo, a loving mother and grandmother.
Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, a 37-year-old national of El Salvador, faces charges of capital murder in connection with the heinous crime.
Additionally, Argueta is subject to an immigration hold, as confirmed by ICE.

Authorities believe that Argueta specifically targeted the Chick-fil-A establishment located on N. MacArthur Boulevard in the Las Colinas neighbourhood.
It has been disclosed that Argueta’s spouse is employed at the Chick-fil-A and positively identified him as the assailant.
The motives behind the targeted attack and the events leading up to the tragic shooting remain under investigation.
Elisabeth de Godoy, the wife of Brayan, revealed to FOX 4 that her husband relocated to North Texas independently and worked multiple jobs to support his family back home.
\”We were entirely reliant on him, we have no other family,\” she expressed in a statement. \”The man who took his life didn’t comprehend the devastation he would leave in his wake.\”
Brayan’s childhood friend Kevin Lopez conveyed through a translator, \”he pursued the dream of providing his family with a better life.\”
Portillo’s daughter, speaking off-camera to FOX 4, shared that her mother leaves behind grandchildren who will now grow up without her presence.
The timeline for the Chick-fil-A’s reopening remains uncertain, with one of its windows still boarded up.
