Accident – Death – Obituary News : A day following the arrest of the principal and vice-principal of Oasis School in Jharkhand for their alleged involvement in the leaking of this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) paper, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken into custody a Hazaribagh-based journalist for reportedly aiding the accused individuals.

identified as Mohd Jamaludin, the journalist is employed by a prominent Hindi newspaper. His arrest was prompted by the discovery of significant technical evidence against him, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Earlier in the week, the CBI had apprehended Dr Ehsanul Haque, the school’s principal, and Imtiaz Alam, the vice-principal and Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG as designated by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Both individuals are associated with Oasis School, where investigators suspect the leak originated.

Additionally, two individuals from Patna were arrested by the CBI on Thursday for allegedly arranging accommodations for NEET-UG candidates on May 4, the day before the examination. It is believed that on this day, the individuals in question obtained and memorised the solved paper. Among the 13 accused individuals, four are examinees, with five more arrests taking place subsequently.

The Ministry of Education had transferred the case of alleged irregularities in this year’s NEET (UG) to the CBI for a thorough investigation on June 22.

In a parallel development, the CBI, having taken over the case from Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU), conducted searches at seven locations in Gujarat. The operation, initiated in the morning, targeted suspects across four districts including Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.

This latest arrest and ongoing investigation underscore the CBI’s commitment to upholding the integrity of competitive exams and combatting malpractice within the education system. The agency’s efforts to uncover and prosecute those involved in the alleged paper leak demonstrate a dedication to maintaining fairness and transparency in educational assessments..
