Accident – Death – Obituary News : Two women have been apprehended for their suspected involvement in a series of thefts at prominent department stores. The police were alerted to the suspects by an employee at Burlington, leading to their subsequent arrest.

According to reports from a Fox affiliate, WITI, on Tuesday around 3 pm, the employee notified the authorities that two women were allegedly stealing from the store in Florida. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the two women loading approximately $400 worth of stolen merchandise into a 2014 Hyundai Tucson with California plates.

The suspects have been identified as 34-year-old Carla Stephany Soto Araneda and 33-year-old Genesi Michael Flores Reyes. The vehicle was found to be filled with items bearing tags from Marshalls and Ross, along with tools used to remove anti-theft devices. Subsequently, the car was impounded, and a search warrant was obtained to investigate further.

Inside the vehicle, police uncovered over $6,000 worth of stolen goods from various stores. The stolen amounts included $417.77 from Burlington, $2,703.86 from Marshalls, and $3,134.32 from Ross, totaling $6,255.95.

Following their arrest, Araneda and Reyes were taken to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Both suspects confessed to the crimes, revealing that they had traveled from California to Florida and visited multiple cities within the state. Authorities have determined that both women are residing in the country unlawfully.

The suspects are currently being detained in Charlotte County, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection notified of the situation. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for further updates on the case.

As a preventative measure against theft, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and TJ Maxx have implemented a new strategy involving employees wearing body cameras to combat shoplifting and violence against staff members. This initiative, which began last year, includes specialized training for employees using body cameras. The footage captured is only shared upon request by law enforcement or in response to a subpoena.

In conclusion, the apprehension of these two women highlights the ongoing efforts of retailers to combat theft and maintain a safe shopping environment for employees and customers..
