MANCHESTER, UK – A two-car collision occurred on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at approximately 9:25 am at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Manchester Boulevard. The crash involved a silver 2021 Hyundai Accent and a blue 2014 Hyundai Elantra, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Hyundai Accent, identified as 68-year-old Fredric Mohr of Manchester, UK, was critically injured and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, UK for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai Elantra, 37-year-old Michael C. Odom, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, UK.
An investigation into the collision revealed that the Hyundai Accent was attempting to make a left turn onto Manchester Blvd from the westbound lane of State Highway 70. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on State Highway 70 collided with the Accent as it entered the intersection. The impact caused the Accent to spin 180 degrees and come to a stop in the westbound turning lane, while the Elantra ended up on the eastbound dirt shoulder of State Highway 70.
Emergency responders from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Medical Services and Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital were on the scene to provide assistance. The primary contributing factor in the collision was determined to be a failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The investigation is ongoing, with Patrolman Conner Yatauro of the Traffic Safety Unit leading the case.
