A man from East Haven, Connecticut, named Christian Lorig, aged 36, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two children under the age of 10. The sentencing was handed down by Judge Gerald L. Harmon, with Lorig receiving a total sentence of 20 years in prison, of which 10 years will be served before the possibility of release. In addition, Lorig will be subject to 10 years of sexual offender probation.
The sentencing took place in New Haven Superior Court, where the victims and their families had the opportunity to address the court. The case involved incidents of sexual assault that occurred in Branford, East Haven, and Ledyard between the years 2015 and 2019.
Lorig’s legal troubles began in May 2018 when he was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. This initial arrest came after an investigation revealed that Lorig had sexually assaulted a family member. Subsequent investigations and interviews conducted by East Haven police and licensed clinical social workers uncovered further instances of sexual abuse involving another child.
In August 2019, Lorig faced new charges of first and fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk injury to a minor after a concerned parent reported additional incidents of abuse. The detailed accounts provided by the child led to Lorig’s arrest and eventual guilty plea.
State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and child welfare authorities in bringing justice to the victims of these heinous crimes.
