TEWKSBURY — A police operation on Grove Street in Tewksbury resulted in the seizure of counterfeit Adderall pills and the arrest of a local resident on drug trafficking charges.
The Tewksbury Police Department’s Narcotics Unit observed a suspicious drug deal taking place outside a residence on Grove Street. The man involved in the transaction was later identified as Cameron Joyce, a 30-year-old resident of Tewksbury.
Following the observation of the drug deal, Joyce was promptly apprehended by law enforcement officers. Upon searching him, the police discovered what appeared to be 135 Adderall pills. However, further analysis revealed that these pills were counterfeit and actually contained methamphetamine instead of the prescribed medication.
The total weight of the counterfeit pills was approximately 42 grams. In addition to the pills, law enforcement officers also found $1,191 in cash during their investigation.
Cameron Joyce was brought before Lowell District Court on Friday to face charges of trafficking in 36 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as several traffic-related charges including operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving an unregistered vehicle. The outcome of Joyce’s arraignment is pending.
