April Dembo : Man Sets Woman on Fire in San Antonio, Arrested

A man has been taken into custody by the San Antonio Police Department for allegedly setting a woman on fire while she was sitting in her vehicle on the east side of the city. The incident took place on June 21 in the 200 block of Rice Road.

Details of the Incident

Upon receiving reports of a vehicle on fire, authorities quickly responded to the scene. It was evident to officials that the car had been intentionally set ablaze, rather than being the result of an accidental fire.

According to a witness, they observed a man approaching the vehicle from under a nearby bridge just before it caught fire. The witness mentioned hearing a shattering sound before witnessing the vehicle engulfed in flames.

After extinguishing the fire, officials discovered the victim, identified as April Dembo, walking away from the vehicle with severe burns on her arms and legs. Dembo confirmed the witness’s account of the events.

Suspect in Custody

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Kevin Christopher Hughes, has been arrested and is facing a first-degree felony charge of arson causing bodily injury or death.
