BELLS, Texas (KXII/Gray News) – A family in Texas is celebrating the miraculous recovery of their baby after a devastating crash that tragically took the life of his grandmother.

The incident occurred on June 12 on U.S. 69 and Dension Street in Bells, Texas. A vehicle was rear-ended by a pickup truck while waiting to turn left, causing the car to be pushed into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a semitruck.

Tragically, the driver of the vehicle, Angela Woodson, lost her life in the crash. Her grandson, 3-month-old Roman, was rushed to the hospital where he fought for his life against all odds.

Doctors gave Roman a slim 5% chance of survival, believing that he had suffered significant brain damage due to lack of oxygen during the accident.

Despite facing numerous obstacles in the organ donation process, Roman’s family remained hopeful as he showed small signs of progress while on a ventilator.

After 11 days, the decision was made to remove the ventilation tube, a moment of immense uncertainty and anxiety for Roman’s family.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Roman defied all odds and began showing remarkable signs of recovery just five days after being taken off the ventilator.

His doctors are baffled by his rapid progress, unable to explain the miraculous turnaround in his condition.

In the community of Bells, a purple roadside memorial stands in honour of Angela Woodson, who is deeply missed by her loved ones.

The community has come together to support Roman’s family, even starting a petition to reduce the speed limit on U.S. 69 in the area to prevent future accidents.

Roman, who is now doing everything a baby his age should be doing, is expected to be discharged from the hospital and go home with his mother next week.

His grandfather, Ashley Woodson, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support, believing that Roman is truly a miracle of God.
