A young man, identified as 19-year-old Andre Brown, has been taken into custody in connection with a recent fatal shooting incident in University Village.

Brown faces charges of first-degree murder and vehicular hijacking with a firearm, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.

Following identification as one of the three suspects involved in the shooting, Brown was apprehended on Wednesday in the 1000 block of W. 14th Street.

The victim, a 37-year-old man, was targeted while outside his vehicle on April 5 in the 1300 block of W. 13th Street, where Brown and two other individuals opened fire on him, according to law enforcement.

The injured man was swiftly transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, sadly succumbing to his injuries later on. His identity remains undisclosed at this time.

Brown is scheduled to make a court appearance on June 29 for a detention hearing.
