In a tragic incident in the Gul Waliabad area of Lakki Marwat city on Friday, a teenage boy was fatally shot in what appears to be a result of an old enmity. The victim, identified as Ahmad Sheraz, 17, was accompanied by his younger brother, Faizan, 14, when their rivals, including individuals named Waqas and Noor Aslam, arrived at the scene on a motorcycle and opened fire on them while they were purchasing milk from a local shop.
The attack not only claimed the life of Faizan but also left a passerby named Habibullah injured. While Faizan succumbed to his injuries at the Government City Hospital, Sheraz miraculously escaped unharmed. The perpetrators fled the scene, prompting the police to launch an investigation and efforts to bring them to justice.
Encounter with alleged robber and motorcycle robbery
Meanwhile, an alleged robber named Irshadullah was injured in a police encounter on Begukhel Road on the outskirts of Lakki city the previous night. Irshadullah, who was reportedly wanted by the police in connection with robbery cases, was found in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle and ammunition. The police are currently in pursuit of his fleeing accomplice.
In a separate incident on the same night, three armed men robbed their relatives of a motorcycle, mobile phones, and cash following a family dispute on Lakki-Tajazai Road. The victims, Qudratullah and Hameedullah, were intercepted at gunpoint near a seminary by the suspects—Shakirullah, Noman, and Naeemullah.
Arrests made in drug peddling cases
On Friday, the authorities in Bannu apprehended two drug peddlers in separate raids. The Cantonment police managed to capture a proclaimed offender named Bailtoon in the Shaikhan Mamashkhel area while he was in the act of selling narcotics. Along with a significant quantity of hashish, the police also confiscated a pistol and ammunition from the offender.
Additionally, the Otmanzai police arrested Israr, a resident of Lakki Marwat, and seized 500 grams of hashish from him. Both individuals have had cases filed against them for their involvement in drug trafficking activities.
As the investigations into these incidents continue, the authorities are committed to maintaining law and order in the region to ensure the safety and security of the residents.
