MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Authorities in Montgomery County are actively seeking a third suspect in connection with an armed carjacking that took place in Silver Spring on Tuesday. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has left the community on edge.
Details of the Incident
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD), the victim, a man, was targeted by three individuals as he was entering his apartment building in the 1900 block of East West Highway. The suspects, armed with a gun, demanded the victim’s car keys and phone, instilling fear and panic in the victim.
Following the demands, the victim quickly retreated to safety inside his apartment and contacted law enforcement while the suspects fled the scene in his 2021 Toyota Camry.
Arrests Made
The swift action of the MCPD led to the apprehension of two of the suspects the following day. The individuals, identified as 19-year-old Ruben Ramirez of Laurel and 20-year-old Darrell Alvin Brown of Germantown, were found in possession of the victim’s car. Additionally, a handgun was recovered from the vehicle, indicating the dangerous nature of the crime.
Ramirez and Brown have been charged with armed robbery, armed carjacking, assault, and various firearms and theft offenses. They are currently being held without bond as the investigation unfolds.
