After a tense few hours, the community of Paterson can breathe a sigh of relief as 2-year-old Zander Abad has been safely recovered following an Amber Alert that was issued in the early hours of Friday morning.
The alert, which was issued at 1:35 a.m., sent shockwaves through the region as residents were urged to be on the lookout for the missing child.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Junior Nunez, the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s mother, was last seen driving a 2012 black Acura MDX with the New Jersey license plate number “Y78SYU.”
Fortunately, the vehicle was spotted in Manhattan, which enabled law enforcement to track down the suspect and rescue the child.
At approximately 5:19 a.m., police successfully apprehended Nunez in the area of Temple Street and Presidential Boulevard. Zander was found with him and appeared unharmed, although EMS was called to the scene for a thorough evaluation as a precautionary measure.
While the details surrounding the abduction are still unclear, the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the situation.
