In a disturbing incident in Delhi’s Narela area, a 10-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped and bludgeoned to death by two men. The perpetrators allegedly used stones and bricks to smash the minor victim’s head, causing her untimely demise.
The tragic event unfolded in the late hours of the night, around 12:30 AM on Friday, when the Narela Police Station received a distressing call regarding a missing child from Sector 6. The young girl had left her home around 9:45 PM the previous evening and never returned, prompting her family to seek help from the authorities. Following an initial investigation and information provided by the family, the police initiated a search operation. Tragically, the lifeless body of the girl was discovered in an isolated plot within the neighbourhood, as confirmed by Outer North Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Kumar Singh.
Despite the severe damage inflicted on the victim’s head, her identity was confirmed through her clothing, linking her to the missing report from Sector 6.
Arrests and Confessions
During the interrogation process, the father of the child shared crucial details with the authorities, mentioning that certain residents had witnessed the girl in the company of a man. This individual was later identified as Rahul, a 20-year-old worker at a rubber cylinder tube-making factory. Upon further investigation, Rahul admitted to sexually assaulting the girl in collaboration with another suspect named Devdutt, aged 30, who worked at an umbrella-making factory in Narela.
Both Rahul and Devdutt were promptly apprehended by law enforcement, and charges were filed against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The offences include kidnapping, murder, gangrape, and aggravated penetrative sexual assault, highlighting the heinous nature of their actions.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges related to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable individuals, especially children, in our communities. It is imperative for authorities, policymakers, and society as a whole to work together towards creating a safer environment for all, where such atrocities have no place.
