KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – The victim of a fatal overnight shooting in Kansas City, Kan., has been identified as a local 17-year-old as two others continue to recover from non-shooting-related injuries.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department announced on Friday, June 28, that it has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the 4800 block of Steele Rd. as Michael Welch, 17, of KCK.
On Wednesday evening, June 26, emergency services responded to the area following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, Welch was found outside a residence with apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In addition to Welch’s tragic passing, two other individuals were transported to a nearby medical facility with serious, yet non-life-threatening injuries. These injuries were determined to be unrelated to the shooting incident.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department has confirmed that the investigation into this incident is ongoing. At this time, no details regarding potential suspects or additional information about the case have been disclosed.
