CULLMAN, Ala. (WBRC) – A Tennessee man who allegedly led police on a chase that resulted in the death of a woman and serious injuries to her granddaughter in Cullman has been denied bond under Aniah’s Law on Friday morning.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday, May 24, when a police pursuit of a vehicle started in Hartselle and ended in Cullman. The suspect’s vehicle collided with another vehicle during the chase, resulting in the death of 77-year-old Ellarea Dickson and critical injuries to her granddaughter.

The driver of the suspect’s vehicle, identified as Michael Neal Ivy, 39, from Middleton, Tennessee, is facing charges of murder, first-degree assault, felony attempting to elude, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, and multiple traffic offences.

Following the incident, Ivy was taken to the hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Cullman County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

Court Proceedings and Grand Jury Involvement

On Friday, June 28, Ivy appeared in district court before District Judge Wells R. Turner III, who denied his bond on the charge of murder-reckless. The case is now set to be presented to a grand jury for further review and consideration.
