SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Authorities from the New Braunfels Police Department have apprehended the individual believed to be responsible for a violent machete attack earlier this week.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the vicinity of North Market Avenue and East San Antonio Street, where a heated altercation between two motorists escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to police reports, 66-year-old Michael Martin Ochwat, a resident of New Braunfels, allegedly stabbed the other driver multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Ochwat was successfully taken into custody on Thursday afternoon following a thorough investigation.
He now faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with his bail set at £50,000.
The 55-year-old victim, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, has since been discharged from hospital and is on the path to recovery.
