RAEFORD, N.C. (WNCN) – In a significant development, two individuals, including an undocumented migrant, have been apprehended on multiple drug-related charges as a result of a major drug bust in Hoke County on Friday, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

Authorities from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that a suspect vehicle, which was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, was pulled over by agents. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene, leading to the discovery of marijuana and suspected cocaine inside the vehicle, according to deputies.

Following this discovery, detectives secured a search warrant for a residence situated on the 4000 block of Old Maxton Road, which is occupied by the two individuals from the suspect vehicle – Mateo Olan Garcia and Tammy Lynn Sandoval, as per the sheriff’s office.

During the search of the property, law enforcement officers uncovered a .40 caliber handgun and a .22 caliber long rifle. Additionally, approximately six ounces of suspected methamphetamine, alongside cutting agents, digital scales, and plastic baggies, were seized, as outlined in a news release from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.

Subsequently, Garcia and Sandoval were taken into custody and transported to the Hoke County Jail. They were formally served with warrants and presented before a magistrate for their initial court appearance, deputies confirmed.

Charges Faced by the Individuals

Both Garcia and Sandoval are currently facing a range of charges, including trafficking a Schedule-II controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony possession of cocaine.

Furthermore, Sandoval has been charged with simple possession of marijuana. She is presently detained at the Hoke County Jail on a $150,000 secured bond.

On the other hand, Garcia is also being held on a $150,000 secured bond. In addition, he is subject to a federal hold due to his illegal entry into the United States, according to the sheriff’s office.

This latest development underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related activities and uphold public safety in Hoke County and beyond.
