A man from St. Paul has been sentenced to 60 months in connection to a violent incident that took place in a grocery store parking lot, resulting in the injury of a teenage girl back in March. Marquan Husten-Myles, a resident of St. Paul, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a felon in April. He appeared in court on Friday to receive his sentence, during which he was credited for the 104 days he had already served.
Another individual, a 17-year-old from St. Paul, was also charged in connection to the same shooting incident. This teenager faces three felony counts, including second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, 20-year-old Isaiah Parkin is facing charges of second-degree attempted murder and drive-by shooting for his involvement in the incident.
The incident took place in the parking lot of a Cub Foods store located on Clarence Street. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of multiple men engaging in a shootout. By the time law enforcement arrived, the individuals involved had already left in separate vehicles.
Several vehicles in the vicinity were found to have been hit by gunfire, with damage also observed on a store window. Tragically, a Girl Scout who was inside the store packaging cookies at the time was struck by a bullet. Additionally, a 16-year-old was grazed by a bullet during the exchange of gunfire.
According to the official complaint, surveillance footage reveals Husten-Myles and the 17-year-old suspect exiting the grocery store and heading towards a Kia Optima parked in the fire lane. As they were making their way to the vehicle, Parkin began shooting at them. Both parties exchanged multiple rounds of gunfire before fleeing the scene.
