Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A disturbance call at a popular Southington restaurant has resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were found to be in possession of a stolen BMW, according to local authorities.

On the evening of June 20, police officers were dispatched to Moe’s Southwest Grill located at 720 Queen St. in response to a 911 disturbance call. Upon arrival, officers noticed a white BMW sedan parked in the restaurant’s parking lot that matched the description of a vehicle that had evaded law enforcement in a previous incident, as reported by the Southington Police Department.

The vehicle in question, a 2018 BMW 750, was found to have a Connecticut registration that was allegedly being misused, according to police sources.

Authorities approached the vehicle for further investigation and encountered 21-year-old Keon Jesi Mayes from Waterbury. Mayes was promptly detained, and a check of the vehicle’s VIN revealed that the BMW had been reported stolen from New York, police confirmed.

Shortly after, a second individual emerged from Moe’s Southwest Grill and proceeded towards the BMW. The man, later identified as 20-year-old Xavion Dwight McMillian also from Waterbury, was seen heading towards the driver’s side door of the vehicle when officers intervened, leading to a brief foot chase before McMillian was apprehended near the restaurant entrance without further incident.

During a search of the stolen BMW, officers discovered a Smith and Wesson M&P15 Rifle (.22 Caliber) registered to McMillian, as well as an unregistered SCCY 9mm pistol, police disclosed.

Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to Southington police headquarters for processing. Mayes was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal transfer/purchase of a firearm, and weapons in a motor vehicle, while McMillian faced charges of interfering with an officer, first-degree larceny, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, and misuse of marker plates, according to law enforcement.

Following their arrest, Mayes was held on a cash/surety bond of £250,000, while McMillian was issued a bond of £300,000, police records show.

Both individuals made an appearance at New Britain Superior Court on June 21 to face the charges brought against them.
